Time to spruce up some characters with the new tables, then

I posted Fork already, but honestly I was having fun with the character creation and both randomly generated and specifically built (joke) characters. I have actual (if limited) thoughts on the process and not just something character specific under everything.

...Also, due to sister @robezpierre​’s character also being given the short name ‘Fork,’ if I used a different short name, I got the suggestion of ‘too wordy, you should do something simple, like Fork’ and since it was the person who’s probably going to run the game when we play, I listened to him.

First, three randomly generated characters.

Ethos 7- sensible

Pathos 4- nervous

Logos 4- misinformed

Elemental (cold)- character has a cold aura

Mighty Muscles- character is much stronger than size suggests

Sticky Steps- character can cling to any surface

The Art of Revelation- you refute the lie of objective truth

Creed- 5 (Looking for a fight)

59 cm tall, weighs 11 kg

They have a ‘large or toothy mouth’ and appear to be a very slightly longer than average but much fatter ferret, that happens to be blue. And maybe there are some snowflakes coming out of their mouth. It’s fine.

(Right now I want to keep the randomly generated ones, random, but to actually run this character I’m thinking about changing the creed to 4 (Power comes from eating god) mostly due to context from the name)

Gravelly voice, bony flesh. They’re like a supersized tenrec, with spiky ‘hair’ made out of bones. When they’re underwater they have a bone snorkel and face mask that don’t actually seem to do anything.

56 cm tall, 12 kg

This one is a little muppety looking Thing that digs by eating the dirt rapidly and spitting it out of their other head? It’s inspired by Eoin Colfer but this fits the system in a way that will not derail every session

(If I edit this one to run, I’d swap Ethos and Pathos- this is not a Straight Man type character)

Creed- 2 (There is something wrong with the cosmos on a fundamental level)

Tall and probably Heavy

A liquid metal possum, a very long legged, very fast, dancing possum, who is wearing red suspenders for some reason. They don’t have pants, so it’s anyone’s guess why they have the suspenders.

Creed- 4 (This character literally eats gods)

Short and Heavy

Robezpierre gets final say (she suggested the name) but I’m thinking, it’s a fat, furry little, thing, with two heads you can just see the eyes looking up from under the hair, but the mouths are longer than they maybe should be, and you’re sure it just licked it’s own ear with a tongue that shouldn’t have fit in that mouth

Thoughts: First, for an idea of where I’m coming from, I’ve been playing Lancer and semi-recently the group I play in did a play test of Icon so

I’m having fun with the creator. Randomly generating a character is pretty fast, but it’s not too hard or too much more time to figure out a build to fit a joke name (Building a replica of a cartoon character seems doable but honestly, not something I’d use this for- there’s better payoff for doing that in a more serious system). The random feature table is nice- if it’s not obvious I default to ‘this animal but weirder’ and at minimum having more traits to suggest something different gets me closer to something that fits better with other looney tunes critters. This system feels like it incentivizes you to come into it without any kinda plan and figure out the character as you go along, which is also nice for one-shots or pick up and play or ‘normal dm is moving right now who wants to run something quick’

I had to read the arts and faucets a few times to understand what they were doing (the looney tunes type gags and the comedy trio) but I have a negative passive perception and an inability to pick up on hints so don’t take that too seriously.

Any serious comments have already been addressed or are going to happen, I think- moving some of the tables around to make it flow better and such.

This is a little less finished than I prefer my first drafts to be, but I'm sixty pages deep and well and truly sick of filling out d66 tables – it's time to get it in front of eyes that aren't mine!

If you're coming in from the previous character creation teaser, revisions in this version (apart from, you know, the actual rules being present) include expanded treatment of Facets, minor rewrites to several Traits, major rewrites to at least a couple Rebellious Arts, and at least four entirely new d66 tables to play with.

Cyno

The General Mahamatra may not exactly be well-versed when it comes to comforting words (except his puns—and even then, many people would say otherwise), but Cyno is a sincere man. You can trust that he will stick to his word.

And he does, when he promised to look after the Almighty Creator who is a child (not unlike Nahida, but they certainly have more of a mindset of a child—). But was he expecting your chaotic behavior (explosives Klee Style)? Yeah...No.

Bro nearly thought you were held at gunpoint or tricked/manipulated into doing it until he realized you did on your own.

"...Your Grace...Please don't blow up the store again." So instead of protecting you from harm by others, Cyno is more focused on protecting others from harm by you. As much as he doesn't like to think of it that way, you were a lot more dangerous than any eremite or sand monster there was out there.

At least he's still doing his job, being the General Mahamatra! You gift him a flower crown, and he has to take it or else. :)

Tighnari

Since he works with many young forest rangers, and tutors Collei, Tighnari is probably used to dealing with children. Dealing with the Almighty Creator certainly wasn't going to be an issue under this Forest Watcher's eyes.

That was...until you blew up a rishboland tiger. By yourself. On your own. Without getting hurt.

He was not the only freaking out, mind you. Collei was losing it, and Tighnari? He's internally screaming and getting metaphorical heart attacks.

"Your Grace, what were you thinking, running off like that? I know you're strong and you want to protect everyone, but you can really hurt the environment and—" He tries his best to hold back his sassiness while he scolds you, considering some children are much more emotional than others.

He sets up some basic rules for you to follow to make sure that you respect the Avidya Rainforest grounds, but also protect yourself from any form of harm.

Bro becomes a helicopter parent while you're under his care. Have fun, and I hope you enjoy mushrooms. Collei will cook you something else if you don't like what Tighnari cooks, though. :)

Kaveh

This man. He will BUILD you toys. He will DRAW you stories. He may even tell you stories himself.

Mehrak is your best friend when you're around Kaveh. And that man tries his best to make sure your time with him is good. He also refrains from drinking, which is nice! He's improving a little! :D

Absolutely gets worried if you run off without him knowing or if you're hiding from him for too long while playing hide and seek. He goes into an utter MELTDOWN.

And if you blow something up? Boy, if you thought Tighnari getting metaphorical heart attacks was bad, think again—Kaveh might actually get a heart attack.

"Your Grace! What—What were you thinking? Where were you? What did you do? Why did I hear an explosion?!" He's trying to keep himself as calm as possible, but Kaveh is an emotional man. He's kind of failing—

Luckily, with your go-lucky attitude, you pull Kaveh around and take his mind off of work and your explosions! Win-win! :D

Al-haitham

The moment Nahida assigned him the task of taking care of the Almighty Creator, who is a child, bro is planning his things carefully. He is safe-keeping his books, he's renovating Kaveh's bedroom (bc yes), he's buying a few colouring books and crayons.

What he caught him by surprise was not how trusting you were to new strangers you barely knew. It was how you had fun with explosions and exploding everything in your path.

You can imagine as you're being carried away by the Scribe, he's giving you a one-sentence scolding.

"Your Grace, don't ever do that again, it's not nice." He would go into further detail, but he's sure you wouldn't care all that much about data and analysis and stuff like that, so he just ends it as it is.

You're still gonna do it, there's no doubt. It's just now Al-haitham is preparing for your next incoming attack as well.

Zhongli

Grandpa gramps is here woohoo! He's probably the most calmest out of everyone on this request list LOL. You can imagine he's following you calmly, apologizing and paying (through Childe's money cough) for the damages you caused.

Believe it or not, but it was Hu Tao who found you first and decided to take you to Mr. Zhongli for babysitting. He contemplates how the Director found you and brought you back.

The first time you explode something, he is definitely surprised. And concerned of the people who got hurt. You can't fault him for being worried for the mortals that were involved—Liyue Harbor is basically his child. Bro's been governing it for thousands of years.

"Your Grace, Little One, let's try not to put strain in the efforts of an adult's day-to-day life." He scolds you, and will definitely be more keen on your whereabouts, but he does this in a gentle tone. At the very least, you give him something to do that doesn't require him to present himself as the supposedly "deceased" Geo Archon.

Baizhu

With the guy's health issues...it's hard to say if he'll be able to keep up with you and your constant outings all around Liyue Harbor. Changsheng is definitely worried about Baizhu's stress levels as he has to figure out what you did this time and make sure no one was harmed.

He constantly has to ask Qiqi to go find you since he literally cannot keep up with your speed, lest he actually faints or something. You were that quick.

Luckily, if he hears of your whereabouts, he will definitely arrive just in time to apologize and give free check-ups to everyone involved in your explosion party.

"Now, Your Grace, please refrain from hurting others. It's not good to hurt someone's health." You can certainly expect Baizhu to give you a scolding—as well as a basic understanding of medical care in case either you or someone else will need it, and he can't make it there in time.

Like Kaeya (And Tighnari in this post), Baizhu will definitely write you some rules in a notebook and makes you recite them at least twice a day so that you remember not to hurt other people or damage your own health.

He is a doctor for a reason. It's his job to look out for others—even chaotic children with explosives.

Gaming

HAVE NO FEAR, GAMING IS HERE!

Bro is basically your Big Brother who does cool dances and gives you snacks and protects you. Since he's a real foody, you'll definitely know which places are the best to buy snacks!

You find his Wushou Dancing cool as well. He takes pride in it tbh. I mean, who wouldn't be ecstatic if the Almighty Creator loves it?

He does get a bit panic-y when he sees you blow things up, though. As much as he wants to pursue Wushou Dancing as his daily career, he still needs his job as a Shipment Guard.

"Y/N! No! Don't blow that up—!" Yes, he took you out once to travel with the shipment goods for one time, and he's never taken you with him again unless you promise not to blow anything that are near the goods.

He usually leaves you in Liyue Harbor when he's making these Shipment trips, but once he returns, you can certainly count on him to give you some tasty snack or a fulfilling dinner, as well as a free small Wushou Dance.

ೀ kageyama is suga’s favorite underclassmen. i mean, he likes them all, but he honestly sees himself in tobio. he just shows that by bugging him whenever he’s bored.

ೀ you, tsuki, and yamaguchi all bully the others. but please, can we be real for a second? yamaguchi is not a fucking softie or whatever cringey uwu boy you make him out to be. yall saw him laughing and doing nothing when tsuki was being the cunt ass bitch he is. he’s like the biggest idgafer, imo.

ೀ you three also desperately make fun of nishinoya for being short. yamaguchi is actually surprisingly tall. tsukishima be the type of person to tell noya he was short cause his parents had a quickie.

ೀ daichi is the only one who actually knows how to drive. i know they prolly don’t need it, seeing as they live in the countryside and everything is in like walking distance, but i just think he’d know how. curb his biggest opp tho.

ೀthey all did a hear me out cake. asahi was put on it at least four times, understandably. you guys can guess who put him on there. both tanaka and nishinoya put ennoshita too.

ೀ ukai and takeda have hooked up when they got drunk once. they fucked in bar’s bathroom. that’s the headcanon.

ೀ suga is shit at remembering names. i don’t know if it’s actually canon, cause the messages near the outros suga said he called asahi ‘ashley’ for the first six months knowing him because he couldn’t remember his name. I just think that would apply to him trying to remember everyone else’s names. well, during his first year at karasuno. it got better as time went on.

ೀ i also wanted to mention how similar ennoshita and tsuki are. we both see them washing their face after matches, the shiratorizawa for tsuki and wakuwan for ennoshita. they both think they aren’t good enough, that they’re inferior. and while tsukishima strived for perfection in his blocking, ennoshita was a substitute for daichi, but in the end, couldn’t compensate for what was lost, even if they won the match. both the shiratorizawa and wakuwan matches were won, but tsukishima failed to meet his words fully and ennoshita never met up to daichi’s level, never met up to a true substitute that had the teams back. ennoshita looks up to nishinoya and daichi after the wakuwan match because they were the backbone of their defense. those matches were turning points for them.

ೀ please more representation of my favorite benchwarmer trio—baldy 2.0, daichi but masochistic (ennoshita, i remember that panel), and another one of the blonde boyz. yall sleep on them so much it pmo.

ೀ narita was the first guy to shave his head. i always thought he had some luscious, long hair straight from a pantene commercial before he turned into mr.clean. tanaka was the next one to. the both of them have a pact to shave their heads the same day every year. they also tried to act as each other as a prank. yeah,, it did not work cause they were shit at acting.

ೀ also, another narita hc that nobody talks about. he was put in the same place during the shiratorizawa match that ennoshita was in for the wakuwan match. and yet, in the anime, there’s no sense that narita has been put under both mental and physical pressure. he isn’t tsukishima in the slightest. he can’t readblock, he can’t stop spikes completely, he can’t replace presence that tsukishima had on the team, both shiratorizawa and karasuno, the wall that was always there. the very least we get on this is when narita is subbed back out for tsukishima and the few words that were with ukai. instead of focusing on something similar to ennoshita’s feelings, they used that pressure and applied to the team. of course, that was true. but that just undermined narita’s character. he was most literally a chip to recognize what the others were going through. there was so much potential in building up narita’s character, even if he’s just background filler. there could’ve been a connection between him and ennoshita with just a few words spoken between them. there could’ve been a real spark that made their silly little interactions in the back worth so much more. because they were both given shoes that were too big that they had to fill out, but were overshadowed by the big return of daichi and tsukishima back on the court.

ೀ kinoshita knows how to play guitar. whenever he’s bored or zoning out, he finds himself in the habit of pretending to place his fingers on the strings of like an imaginary guitar to practice notes. it’s like the equivalent of someone tapping their fingers on the table to imagine themself pressing the keys of a piano. does that make sense or do I sound insane? if you’ve watched alien stage, it’s the thing that till does in the flashbacks prolly during weige or his ep.

ೀ tsukishima has some hearing loss. he’s has his headphones literally stuck to his head, and i know damn well that music is fucking blasting, resounding in his eardrums. the world could end, and his only reaction would be lifting up his headphones and saying ‘what?’ with a blank fucking face.

ೀ hinata is almost as a nervous wreck as yachi and asahi. on the court, he doesn’t get that embarrassed. it leaves as fast it comes. but off it? he has those moments engraved in his mind. whenever he remembers then, all he can do is yell ‘FUCK’ very loudly in sheer mortification at the thought.

ೀ asahi likes bitter coffee. i always assumed he wasn’t a morning person, and he downs a cup of coffee without anything, no creamer, not milk, just straight to wake himself up. it was an acquired taste for him until he found out was tea was.

ೀ noya and tanaka crush up smarties and snorts them. from my own experience, i actually saw one of my friends eat smarties then somehow breathe out the dust like it was smoke. that type of shit would happen to them ngl.

ೀ actually canon, but ukai literally gets flirted with all the time?? well, kinda. but we’re not gonna ignore that the first ep of s4 was literally that the ilumni giving donations to the vbc were actively trying to set ukai up w/ somebody. like hellurrr? they’re so reall for that tho. i would try to get a piece of him too.

ೀ art is yachi’s love language. she first fell in love with it when she saw her mom write a little doodle on a note meant for her coworker. she was pretty young, and she did know her mother was a graphic designer. but she didn’t know why. it was what mom did, so she would do the same. seeing that though, made her realize how much there was to convey—dedication, passion, love. it’s not that she’s can’t put out her emotions, she’s gotten so used to put it on paper. anyway, i ship yachi’s mom with her coworker. i thought he was yachi’s dad at first before i read the wiki…

i liked him decently on my first playthrough where i befriended him, but when i tried to romance him on another try, my lavellan and him clashed so much, arguing constantly and gaining disapproval like crazy 😭 so i didn't continue it

maybe it's on me for choosing to play as an older keeper and grandmamancing him (romancing him as a grandma), i thought it'd be a fun dynamic but grandma lavellan's freak was left unmatched...

i can't remember if this was sent before or after i wailed about how much i miss blackwall's romance but if its the latter this is really funny. anyway i'm flattered you're asking me of all people since i feel like i'm probably on a solavellan blacklist somewhere LOL

my enjoyment of his romance is like almost purely from a meta perspective so take my opinions with several grains of salt because i am like the furthest you can get from a standard solavellan fan; like on an actual emotional level i just physically cannot fucking stomach imagining myself in a relationship with him even in a self indulgent "sexy older man with Issues" fantasy. which might be the root of your problem too idk what your personal preferences are but full disclosure this is NOT my usual taste LOL

but um. i think for me the biggest part of solas' romance that i enjoy is being able to play off of his character and his flaws and motivations etc. elnora was like my 50th inquisitor so i kind of had the privilege of meta knowledge allowing me to write her relationship to him from a more informed place than someone would be if they were going in blind (which is what i think contributed to me enjoying the game just in general so much, having the ability to go into certain situations already knowing how things will play out and making sure my character complimented the themes and plot structure accordingly).

like for elnora specifically, i gave her a more unorthodox take on her faith (she believes in the maker as well as the creators and tries to follow the wisdom of both andraste And mythal from a place of open-minded curiosity), which meant it was easier to talk to solas and gain some common ground without the constant feeling that you're just being talked down to, which in turn i think made him as a character a lot more digestible to me because i think when you approach his dialogue from a position of genuine interest—even from just a roleplay perspective and not necessarily your own interest in the material—it makes the whole thing a lot more enjoyable because it feels less like an argument and more like a character study (if that makes sense.?) like for me i HAD to detach myself from my character's beliefs to get the most out of it. this isn't even to say you have to make a character that constantly agrees with him because elnora SURE DIDNT LOL but i think it's just about having a character that values his wisdom i would say, because it really shifts your perspective of him and makes it easier to appreciate him as a character

also. yeah. sorry i think the grandma part might have contributed LOL solas' romance does seem like its geared more towards like. mid-30 year old lavellans Max. or at least people who dont have the same amount of life experience that he posits to have. again i think understanding that a lot of the condescension is completely unintentional is important because from solas' perspective he really is just trying to set the record straight for someone who he believes is genuinely just uneducated in a subject matter he is well versed in (you know, it's that thin line between pride and wisdom). so yeah it's probably going to be extra irritating to have a character that DOES actually know what she's talking about and is having to listen to him mansplain elfy shit to her LOL. the power imbalance is a big part of the romance, so it's kind of something you have to accept or at least find a way to navigate that works for your personal comfort level

my favorite part about elnora and solas' relationship i think is that they're pretty much the same person but at two different stages of their journey. elnora is the free-spirited skeptic who just wants to understand as much of the world as possible and carve out her place in it. solas is the bitter old sage who's learned the hard way the cost of his ambitions and is looking back on his own journey with a heavy dose of regret. neither of their outlooks are inherently right or wrong, so there's always this kind of push-and-pull where they're learning from each other but also trying to change each other's minds and they both eventually reach a line where they can't cross over. i think that's why it made so much sense to me for them specifically to have a relationship rooted more in the emotional intimacy as opposed to the sexual and this is only partly because the mental image of solas being sexual in any way makes me feel violently ill.

my FAVORITE part about the romance though that i think is what ultimately sealed it as one of my favorite dynamics is the fact that lavellan can be Angry with him. i love when he shatters her entire world and then immediately decides to dump her on the spot in the most clinical and detached way possible and she can say "are you FUCKING kidding me?!" and storms off. i love that she can confront him later and Not Allow him to play it off like it was nothing. i love that you can shout "YOU LIED TO ME" when you finally meet him again in trespasser and when he tries to brush it off ("only by omission") she just gets angrier and then they literally square off like this.

but like the reason why i like that is because the game never once tries to strongarm what you should do with that anger. lavellan can be angry and also still love him. the ability to adopt that "fuck you you can't push me away i'm bringing you home even if it's kicking and screaming the whole way" mentality is soooo delicious to me. i love how much agency she has in how she can react to him after he essentially betrays her (multiple times) and how that reaction does not necessarily misalign with what she wants to do in terms of his fate. its such an interesting dynamic that really allows you to explore the character from angles that you don't really get to see very often because video game romances tend to be VERY binary in terms of your characterization (and as much as i adore da2 i do fully believe even the rivalmance/friendmance paths fall victim to this). idk i just think it's super cool

hey anon, I actually haven't seen much shit talking about Thamepo myself, at least not on here and certainly not on twitter (mdl is always a place I should not go) but yeah I love it to pieces even with any flaws. It hit so many good beats for me so anything I might not like is easy to overlook.

I have seen some of my mutuals do a little critique especially because of the portrayal of the idol industry and it really getting some significant stuff wrong. I appreciate hearing those things. I think that's important to share with people who might not know. And it often makes me think about why a show would portray certain things certain ways, I like to write after all.

I do think this was GMMTV's new kind of bubble, one where the creators could put out some thinky thoughts about their themes without it being too hard hitting. I would much rather get that than have projects like this shut down, but I get why other people want more.

Ultimately Thamepo is a romance where the fantasy is falling in love with a famous idol who loves you back. I am a romance lover at heart and even in my desire to throw away some tropes, that one is really good for me, especially with the flip of Po being the one who is older and had a relationship before. It stuck with classic romance moments and tropes that I loved, flipped others, gave us a great chemistry in the pairing and had the couple fall in love because they understood each other in a way they didn't feel understood by anyone else.

That's always going to get me.

Doesn't hurt at all that they both are so pretty it almost hurts to look at them. I'm not gonna pretend otherwise.

The added bonus of feeling the comradery with the members and enjoying the style of the writing where there were fun and significant pov shifts, along with it just all looking very beautiful in its cinematography helped make me love it more.

From what I see on twitter and other places, it's getting plenty of love and I'm very happy for William and Est for that.

In terms of my fic, I think maybe you mean that Po is a little more forthright with what he wants in terms of his physical relationship with Thame. I think they were keeping with the classic pursuer/pursued dynamic in the drama so he came off more passive, but I like to think of it as Po wanting to give Thame space since this is all new for him and Po maybe working through his past relationship stuff (as I am sure is pretty clear in the fic). Po is feisty when he wants to be and Thame is a sassy bitch in the right moment. I think they'll settle into that at some point after the new wears off and they would be really fun at that stage too after all the heart eye goo tamps down a bit haha.

Guys, I realize my post stirred things up and provoked a lot of reactions in support of Charlie, because of the shit I wrote about his interview. So I feel the urgent need to explain myself as I'm now feeling super guilty. So please hear me out.

First of all, I want to make it very clear: I WOULD NEVER BLAME OR ATTACK Charlie for his words. That was NOT my point. I am NOT upset with HIM, as some might have thought. I have zero issues or complaints with him. He’s an incredible actor, and his performance gave me chills throughout both seasons. He’s a fantastic Sauron, and I wouldn’t ask for anyone else in the role. I also believe he’s a wonderful human being. As a fan, I admire both him and his work. And just to be clear, I’m not one of those crazy shippers who would harass actors over the characters they play. I have no personal problem with him or any of the cast. What I expressed yesterday was about my own feelings and thoughts, not about him.

Im not gonna deny that writing that post I felt disappointed, not with him again, but with how differently we understand the message the show is sending us about Galadriel and Halbrand’s relationship. From the beginning, the show’s creators seemed to hint at Haladriel—maybe for fun, maybe for hype, maybe for a purpose, we don’t know for sure. As fans, we have very little insight into their greater plan, but I assumed the actors must know more. So, when I hear them say ‘no’ to Haladriel, I feel like we’ve all been tricked after all.

We’ve spent a lot of time convincing ourselves that we got the message right—analyzing every word, every touch, and every subtle expression, hoping it all pointed to something more. For example, after the disappointing finale, some of us came up with the idea that Sauron used the crown to bind Galadriel to him rather than kill her—like he aimed for her shoulder on purpose instead of her heart; that he keeps watching her recovering; that he took halbrand’s form to convince her to join him… We’ve comforted ourselves with these theories, only to then hear things like, ‘Nah, he was just trying to stall so he could find a way to beat her and kill her.’

So yeah, all of that didn’t align in MY head, and it made me feel deceived. But to be absolutely clear: I am NOT blaming CHARLIE for this. Never would I.

he craves stimulation constantly to distract himself about his own mind. that stimulation being killing or alcohol

also, he doesn't have any supernatural powers. he's a regular human. and has a really bad eye sight, like he can fight well in close combat but in anything else he sucks

my thoughts on cannon husk design: I actually like it!!! Must be a fucking nightmare to animate (especially when he flies, kudos to the animators) but I love his colors and shapes. The only thing I find a tad strange is how top-heavy the interesting parts of his design are, but that might be a me thing.

as for the general monotony in the main casts bodies, yeah that’s a thing. It might be an issue of art style (ex: Charlie and Vaggie) but I do wish they had a bit more difference in their body shapes (live laugh love mimzy my queen).

When I was first designing husk, I kinda went into it trying to make him something that looks like he could still be in the show, but I realized pretty quickly that was a little out of my skill level lololol. As time went on I stopped trying to make him something I thought ‘people’ would like to see and instead as something I would like to draw, which made the process of designing him way more fun.

His body shape in particular kind of came to me once I realized 1) I’m not good at drawing husk skinny lol. 2) it looked REALLY FUCKING COOL when other people did it! And 3) I think the irony that he’s a ‘fat cat’ but is actually a broke as hell loser ex-overlord who lost his soul and has a crippling gambling addiction was funny as shit

I could go wayyyy more into all of his design elements, but I might be saving that for a YouTube video. Watch out for that folks ;)

TLDR; I don’t hate og husk, and a combination of self indulgence (that sounds bad in this context lmfao) and inspiration by other creators inspired his design.

Sorry for the ramble in your inbox incoming- I'm a really huge fan of your analysis type posts like the ones about Cathal and recently Flint ;A; So I hope its ok to maybe throw in my own 2 cents about Cogs/their society- (Sorry this gets rambly I thought about this last night and writing this like an hour after waking up lol)

I think what alot of people kind of (I wouldnt say ignore- more of:) don't really get is that I dont believe characters like Cathal or Flint have bad tendencies because they really want to in a way, (I kind of worded that poorly but point is) but because their society rewards and encourages that type of behavior. I think you said something kind of similar on Cathals post- But especially for Flint, whose a Bossbot (Who are literally the embodiment of a toxic workplace and elitism. I believe a old snippet from the TTO magazines says "They have no real skills of their own, just the ability to push down others and stay on top!" Or something to that nature.) he has to be demanding and imposing. There is no benefit to him in being kind. (Like looking at Misty for example) And don't get me wrong I don't believe that if Flint and Cathal were removed from Cog society they'd be better/objectively nicer (Like Flint not being condescending to Toons and Cathal not making people do things for him and being encouraged to try) But I do wonder how much of it is pressure, or how much of it is egged on and rewarded. Atleast in the aspects it relates to how they treat others.

(..And also I wonder what happens to Cogs that don't get jobs and are seen as ..not functioning. Since Graham was freaking the hell out in "Meeting Of Two Minds" over the possibility of not getting the job. I have a whole thing about this actually in my oc lore but thats another thing entirely I'll write about someday I swear)

Also I gasped when I saw the doodle of Graham in the MSI shirt finally a MSI listener Graham truther. I think he'd like the album "How I Learned To" and of course "You'll Rebel To Anything". I associate him mainly with the songs "Lights Out", "On It", and "You're No Fun Anymore" :p (This has been my favorite band since I was like 13 and now I get to spill all my opinions xD) I always imagined him doing the guitar backbend their bassist does! And my final hc is that Flint plays bass and Graham plays the main guitar. I think it fits them .. some people overlook bass when its actually pretty hard to learn from what I hear and vital to the song. (Like heres Feel Good Inc w/o the bass.. feels wrong x_x)

THe biggest issue with Cogs Inc is that it REWARDS and ENCOURAGES these poor behaviors, worsening these characters as people. ESPECIALLY cathal considering the position of power they’re in. I’m sure it applies to a ton of other cogs too, but unfortunately I haven’t gotten to them yet bc I’m not as insane abt them . LMAO

And yeah since cogs are literally built for work, it’s a wonder what happens to those who can’t find a job as easily as others. Hoping that gets built on since it’s clear in MOTM that these cogs have to actually apply and go to interviews and probably face some trial and error to land a job, just like people IRL.

Key thing: A hosting provider is just a site that lets you add your website live online for you - they host you site on the web (that’s how I learnt it). Good examples are GitHub pages, Neocites, Vercel etc.

Hosting Services

The hosting service you choose plays a crucial role in determining the storage capacity of your website. Shared hosting plans often have limitations on disk space and bandwidth, which means there will be a cap on the amount of data you can store for instance Neocities let’s you store up to 1GB of data on their free plan, anything above that and the site won’t work as they don’t have the storage space for you. However, some hosting providers offer larger storage options or even specialized plans for websites with high data requirements - you’ll just have to pay for extra space.

Storage Upgrades

Like I mentioned briefly above, some hosting providers allow you to upgrade your storage capacity as your website grows. This can involve increasing the storage allocation or transitioning to a higher-tier hosting plan that offers more resources. Be sure to check with your hosting provider for available options and any associated costs. This more geared towards much bigger projects than small personal projects you’re building.

There’s more such as using CDNs (Content Delivery Networks) to create more space in your primary hosting provider but I’m not too familiar to talk about it.

It's worth noting that while these options can provide ample storage, truly "unlimited" data storage doesn't exist in practical terms. Facebook, Instagram, Amazon all have a limit somewhere and they would either pay for more space or figure out a way to storage their large data for less space.

Coding everything for Tumblr blogs

I think like the most of us on here, we’re too lazy to code everything and would actually install a theme someone else has made. But for the theme creators, they would code everything in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (if necessary) to build the blog because it is a website and the foundation of web development is those basic 3 (if anything, just HTML to be honest).

A lot of copying and pasting and editing the code, but essentially yeah it’s HTML code with CSS styling and JavaScript functionality to make the blog work. They might add frameworks such as Bootstrap and libraries like jQuery if they wanted! I’m not an expert on Tumblr theme building but I have built websites for work and personal projects and that’s how it is in the basics! 😊

heyyy everyone, it’s been a bit hasn’t it??

sorry for going on a bit hiatus right at the start of this blog. turns out that keeping track of the QSMP was a WAYYY bigger and ambiguous task than i initially thought of, even if i just gonna focus on the brazilian side of things.

suffice to say, i grew out of it, lost interest in doing so, and as a matter of fact i couldnt just naturally watch the QSMP, even without thinking about the blog. i was just having a lot in my plate, so yeah.

from what i know, QSMP ended some time ago, and im not sure if they’re gonna do another one or like a sequel? but i would prob not be able to watch it either… but dont get me wrong, i simply LOVE the idea of the QSMP itself, bringing creators from all over the world together, it was so fun seeing our brazilian CC’s interacting with other CC’s, but this year i joined college and i gotta put more attention to that. not to mention how i have other art related projects too.

if anyone is curious, imma be posting stuff over at Cara, that social media that recently got a lot of attention since Meta stinks, so if you want, you could check it out. i might make a new blog on tumblr just to post my art as well, and unlink the whole QSMP deal going on

also also read ur intro post just now may i politely ask about your opinions of asian media and rep. is it specifically for fantasy? or just lots of genres with general trends or themes youve noticed? 👀

omg i wrote that so long ago and my brain is kinda fried so i'll be a little brief. may expand on it later but eh its all good. these are just rambling thoughts

a lot of asian rep in media mostly revolves around the east asian experience, which is valid bc god knows they need it, except often times it leaves out literally everyone else in its wake, or it keeps grouping up certain asians together. currently south east asian cultures are particular victims of this. But sometimes what ends up happening is that there is a "fantasy asia" world where the world is not technically Asia, but it might as well be given the inspiration behind it. in my personal opinion its kinda orientalist and a bit fetishistic of the 'exoticness' of asian cultures. Like it wants asia but without all of the real people in it

like for example the world in raya and the last dragon. it was great seeing someone who looked at me on screen but goddamn they couldn't at least set it in south east asia, let alone have distinct cultures instead of just taking little aspects of culture and making fantasy. it was a great movie for diaspora sure, but anyone actually from south east asia was disappointed. Xiran Jay Zhao compiled a two part video on it that elaborates more on it better than i could right now–i say compiled bc she doesnt do much talking in them aside from the beginning of the video; everyone else talking in it is south-east asian.

another fantasy world heavily inspired by Asia is ofc atla's world. my problem is that While its a good representation of east asian cultures, south east, south asian, northern asians, and western asians are left behind.

and what bothers me is that there are many places where they can fit in. Like the swampy tribe areas and the ancient firebenders from the dragons era feel like they should be south east asian inspired somewhat, and if you wanted to make a commentary on how these lands have been taken over and colonized (or at least there was an attempt on colonization) would be interesting. or how it feels like it makes more sense for katara and sokka to be more north asian inspired than american inspired. and of course there was the one (1) south asian inspired character who was. more of a caricature than anything else. im not saying the indigenous american rep is bad. obviously any representation is great, especially for indigenous americans. But if you are going to create a clearly "asian inspired" world (like nearly every aspect of this world is asian in culture and the main character is clearly a buddhist monk, it would be hard to argue otherwise), then at least take inspiration from asian cultures?

(side note people making fun of the swampy fog people is not great. does not feel great. regardless of whether they believe they're south east asian rainforests or the american bayou)

other small things are more of fan issues than creator issues. specifically the way people treat some anime characters like they're white instead of japanese/asian and then hold them to white cultural standards. all might is a great example, where despite being named Toshinori Yagi and being from a world where the mc has green eyes and green hair, people still think hes white bc hes blonde haired blue eyes and loves america? which–side note, you dont have to be an american to love america, lots of older people who got really into the american dream still like america. another thing was when i read a bnha fanfic that described someone as looking "asian" which. yeah i sure hope so. the story takes place in japan. and then theres some people not recognizing that asians all look very different from one another even if they're from the same area of the world.

more recently ive noticed the fandom racism in dungeon meshi specifically towards shuro, who despite being from a fantasy world is clearly japanese, and from a japanese-inspired culture. and its his culture which leads him to respond to laios in the way that he does. im not saying its racist to be upset that shuro responded to laios that way, but like. different cultures come with different cultural views and different ways of responding. shuro and laios come from two very different cultures. it happens.
